The Nokia 6300 is a standard form factor (ie candybar) phone. Probably aimed mainly at the business market but without omitting essential entertainment features. Looks and feels well built but is light and reasonably thin at 11.7mm.
Ease of Use
Being a candybar with no flipping, sliding or swiveling and Nokia's PTT (Push To Talk) feature, this phone is very quick and simple to use. The good size screen of 240 x 320 pixels and 16M colours displays the excellent Symbian Series 40 Operating System. The keyboard and function buttons are clear and easy to use.
On the Move
The Nokia 6300 supports both POP3 and IMAP email and uses an Opera browser for the internet.
Entertainment
A simple media player which supports MP3, MP4, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, H.263 and H.264 files and wireless Bluetooth streaming gives good quality sound when listening to MP3 tracks. Don't forget the integrated stereo FM receiver and voice recorder. The 6300 also has a 2 megapixel camera but unlike many phones doesn't have flash or autofocus.
Storage
With a media player and camera you need storage. The unit comes with internal memory of 7.8 Mb and support for a microSD card of up to 2 Gb but comes supplied with a smallish 128 Mb one.
6300 Verdict
Pretty good all-round phone. Business-like features but not too dull to look at.
